New Year Update
Punching out new, high-powered James Knowler Photography Videos, has proven to be incredibly successful and rewarding. The JKP Blog is now up and running. http://www.jamesknowler.com.au/blog This will be a great area to show off examples of my recent print work, mag features and must-see portraits. Also located here, will be my ‘Streets’ Gallery … a photo taken around town straight from my weekly photographic adventures. Last month, I shot a glossy product catalogue for the Armadillo & Co Rugs. http://www.jamesknowler.com.au/galleries/Recent_Project For Black Sheep Advertising, I headed to the popular Devine Homes property development at Port Hughes, York Peninsula. It was going to be a regular day of shooting lifestyle images … people walking on the beach, playing a round of golf, and entertaining on the deck. For Hickinbotham, I photographed two display homes from their impressive portfolio … one at Victor Harbor and one located in the Barossa Valley. My New Year’s Resolution list wouldn’t be complete without another extreme Mountain Bike challenge. This time, The Trans Provence! A seven day race from Lyon to Monaco which kicks off in May. My quads are burning just thinking about this tough race, but the new bike I’ve ordered … Lapierre Spicy 516 (the same beauty used by Nicolas Vouilloz in last season’s ‘Enduro Series') might be the perfect antidote for the pain. http://www.trans-provence.com/coverage.shtml HAPPY NEW YEAR! |

Since purchasing a Canon 5D for my still photography company, I have been playing around with the video mode. For this footage I roped a good mate into telling a story about his vineyard. I testing out the use of wireless microphone and a slider.

Processing RAW files in Lightroom gives me a wide range of flexibly to adjust the colour and contrast. In this case I've heavily desaturated the image.
I have also photographed this image on a very short depth of field to make the background very soft. Its a great technique for photographing a portrait very quickly. One light, one lens can make any office hallway look good.
